Nokia joining the Justice League

So Nokia Microsoft is full steam ahead with releasing new Windows Phones out there. And keeping up with the Superman theme (don’t forget that they released a Lumia 925 Superman edition) they actually codenamed an upcoming handset as Superman.

Windows XP users get no love anymore (update: seems they do after all)

Windows XP. Oh how we loved thee. But yes, it’s time to finally move on. I mean I get it, really. The vast majority of people started getting into computers and the Internet in the 2000s – and guess which operating system was popular back then. But you do realise that it was released in 2001, right? 13 years ago. Which is ancient history in computer standards. A fresh start! (take #90873)

For the past few years I’ve been rather silent in the writing department. I had a column over at Rage3D for some time, imaginatively called Kombuting (you can find it here under Rage3D Editorials) but for the past year, there was nothing from me. Anyway, since then I’ve been adding stuff to my installation, and Plymouth was one of them. Here are the instructions to get it installed just in case someone actually uses Debian: 0. Install v86d package. 1. /etc/default/grub Replace GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”…” by GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”quiet splash nomodeset...

Blog entry tool

So I was looking for a tool that will enable me to blog easily from Ubuntu – Windows Live Writer is sorely missed, and unfortunately there is no way to make it run with Wine (yes, I’ve tried). On the other hand, I found Gnome Blog, which is a nifty Gnome Panel applet, which connects to your blog and lets you post whatever you like easily. It supports all the popular blog platforms like Blogger and WordPress, and it just works Hopefully this will enable me to blog more :p Here’s the link: Gnome Blog
